We got this for our teenage son for Christmas - we all use it and we like it. I don't find it "jerky" or difficult at all - we used to have a Body Solid Pro Smith machine, but it was too big for home use and we ended up donating it to our kids school athletic department. The only problem with this machine is 210 lbs is not enough resistance for my husband and my son. I purchased the upgrade to 310, but there is no way we can see to attach the rods to the Motivator 2 machine... I plan to check with Bowflex, but according to the information we've found on line, the Motivator 2 seems to be the only unit unable to upgrade - I WISH they would have made that clear, it would have influenced our choice and we would have went with a different unit.

My first bowflex and loving it!, October 6, 2008
After years of advertisement and "I cannot afford that!", now I have one of my own and I love it. First of all, praise to Amazon.com for properly shipping it by sending it to a Freight company rather than ... the regulars. It came in one piece and everything was in proper order, no dent. Second, it took me about 2 hours to built this machine. Last, I really love this machine, I tried it a little and I have to say it allows me to work lots more muscles than I have before, compared to my Weider's Total Bodyworks 5000.

Exactly What I Needed and a GREAT Price, October 4, 200
After using the Total Gym for years, Bowflex is a refreshing change. I don't regret buying the Total Gym but it's so nice not to have to work out on an incline ALL THE TIME and I paid LESS for the bowflex than I did for the total gym some 6 or 7 years ago. I'm a 44 yo female and this machine is exactly what I wanted. It was easy to put together, I can do lots and lots of different exercises and I found it was relatively easy to go from one to the next. I'm not looking to build great gobs of muscle mass. I just want to tone and keep the muscles I already had from working out before and as you may know, women especially begin to lose their muscle mass (which burns calories) as they age so this has been wonderful for me. The machine seems sturdy and well built so I think it'll last a long time. Best of all Amazon offered it for a great price and free shipping.

Bottom line: Great Feedback but not quite 5 star
Bowflex Motivator 2 Home Gym get's some great reviews but it's the only Bowflex which can't be upgraded so for that reason it get's 4 stars. Still a great product though.
